A Family Story Rooted In Kerala

Our grandfather began our family’s work in agriculture and spice trading in Kerala. Over four generations, knowledge of the land, crops and trade has been passed down. Today, a new generation is carrying that work forward, bringing fresh ideas, research and technology together with the experience inherited from our family.

Based in Breda, Roots & Routes connects buyers across Europe with spices and botanical ingredients from Kerala. We build direct relationships close to the source and bring a modern focus to origin, product information and traceability.

Why Kerala

Kerala’s warm, humid climate and varied landscapes have supported spice cultivation for centuries. The region is especially known for black pepper and cardamom, grown in and around the Western Ghats.

Its spices have long travelled to markets around the world: in the 17th century, Cochin became a centre of the Dutch East India Company’s Malabar pepper trade.
